It's a global pop-culture that's rapidly grown since the 1980s through which enjoys viewing, collecting, and sharing, photos and video clips of specific scenes from mainstream movies and television shows that depict female actresses tied-up, gagged, restrained, and hand-gagged.
In the past before the internet came to be, enthusiasts would find these scenes available for repeat viewing only in television reruns of movies and TV shows; with that came the first books/ documents cataloguing D-I-D archives > with two sources in particular pioneering the genre:
Alan Marburger ~ "Bondage Fantasies in Popular Entertainment"
and Carl McGuire ~ contributing articles on the topic to "Bondage Life" quarterly magazine:
These appeared during the Golden era of the BDSM videos and magazines industry boom back in the 1980s.
Then came VHS videos and VCRs that could record from the TV, and soon after store-rentals of VHS and DVDs immensely expanded the availability of DiD scenes for ready availability. The internet in the meantime flourished and allowed sharing of digital photos and videos shared commonly in online newsgroups and then Forums and the first social networki websites (such as Yahoo Groups) dedicated to the genre.
Long story short, in current times, the global community is now immense and the sharing of D-I-D content is commonplace and easy, particularly online at sites such as YouTube, Boundhub, DeviantArt, and imDb,....
Search engines are especially helpful in tracking down and identifying scenes.
There are several prominent specialized sites that are dedicated to sharing vast amounts of D-I-D content and references (like our site's section).
Our own site's collection of D-I-D scenes is very limited in scope compared to other very popular online D-I-D sources. Only what we consider as the best of the best scenes are posted here.
So, our collection may be eventually totalling 2 to 3% of the many thousands of D-I-D mainstream scenes in existence. And also, to make searches here easier, we're using categorized subsections.

Most of the images posted will have known information of the scene (as is custom in the community) such as the movie and TV show title, the year of release, and the Damsel actress names. The TV show's Season and Episode info are also included. In cases where information is not at hand, the word "Unknown" will appear.

Some of the content are older low-quality screenshot posts from the 1990s/ 2000s Damsels-in-Distress community Newsgroups which are difficult to enhance further - even with AI tools.
These collections are freely shared and only presented for entertainment and reference archive purposes.

ANY depicted scripted and acted-out fantasized scenes should never be considered as minimalizing nor promoting actual real-life trauma or violence.
